Water has always been interrelated with the people of Sichuan. The ancesters of Sichuan inhabitantscalled "Ba People" were boat dwellers in theancient times. The section of the Jialing River from Langzhong County, via Hechuan County to Chongqing City was then called "Yu River", where the "Ba People"had been dwelling along for generations. One of the facts revealing the close relations between man and water was the construction of the Dujiangyan Irrigation System which represented the highly developed agriculture of Sichuan in the Warrier States period (475-221 B.C.), telling the stories of even colser relation between the people and water. This article just gives a vivid description of the beautiful landscapes and touching stories along this cultural passage.
