摘要 Huangnibao is the only town on the ancient Southwest Silk Road from Yingjing to Qingxi crossing over the Daxianglin Mountain. There once existed the boundary that separated and joined the Han ethnic community and minority ethnic communities, and an important center for economic and cultural exchanges among ethnic groups in southwest Sichuan. It became flourishing because of the opening of the Southwest Silk Road and fell into decay owing to the abandonment of the road.Though it is no longer a strategic pass of military importance, an unique cultural form with striking local flavor has been thriving and well protected in this small town. Thus Huangnibao now still stands out as an attraction of great interest to the anthropologists today.
