The five-thousand years of China’s splendid culture is closely linked with the daily life of the Chinese people, and is an aspect of culture with its own longstanding history. In ancient China, many writers found the inspiration for their greatest works in alcohol. Cao Xueqin, for example, who had an addiction to alcohol, gave to China, and also the whole world, the great novel "The Dream of the Red Mansion", and the study of this book has become of great importance in the culturel of the world. So the production of alcohol has been an important chapter in the history of Chinese culture. China is one of the birthplaces of the culture of alcohol, and within China, Sichuan is one of the places of its origin. Nowadays, Sichuan produces a wide variety of alcoholic drinks well-known throughout China. So the study of Sichuan cannot be separated from the study of Sichuan’s alcohol production.
