身为国家一级美术师的董其中,从1958年大学毕业分配到山西,40年来将自己的艺术生涯全部奉献给有着古老悠久历史的“黄土地”,而黄土地也以它那朴实无华的胸怀给了他丰厚的回报。

MR, Dong Qizhong, a worldfamous engraving painter of Shanxi’ s native and a national first-level artist, has devoted all his artistic careers to the loess plateau with a long history and a traditional culture. He absorbs numerous artistic nourishment from folk paper-cut, toys, ancient engraving pictures, facial makeups in drama and folk songs. Going beyond the time--&-space limit, the romantic hyperbole and skilful engraving can be reflected in his works which are characterized by the senses of the times, the nationality and the localism, and by the harmony unity of content &. form. In his works the colony image of the diligent, kind and happy people living on the loess plateau is vividly shown.
