太原铁路分局隶属于北京铁路局,地处山西能源重化工基地的中心,管辖铁路以太原为中心向外辐射,东至石太线坡头与石家庄铁路分局相接,南至南同蒲修文与临汾铁路分局相接,北至北同蒲线凤凰村与大同铁路分局相接,东北至京原线灵丘与北京铁路分局相结。
Situated in the heart of Shanxi, Taiyuan Railway Bureau attached to Beijing Railway Bureau, handles the transportation of coal and coke to other provinces of China for industrial and civil use and export. In order to meet the requirement of the development of coal industry, is has retooled its transportation lines. During the ten years from 1978 to 19 it has retrofitted many important trunk and branch lines for coal and the electrification mileage has added up to 314.5km. On December 1982, Taiyuan - Yangquan Railway Line was completed, marking the birth of China’s double-line electrified railway. At the same time, double-lines were built in some railway sections between Taiyuan and Datong.
