Taiyuan No. 1 Power Plant

西一电厂于1953年兴建、1955年投产,是建国后华北地区第一座热电联产型企业。

Taiyuan No. 1 Power Plant, which was founded in 1953 and put into production in 1955, was the first plant to produce both heat and electricity in North China after the founding of New China and one of the 156 key projects .constructed within the first Five- Year Plan period. Of today, the sixth phase of expansion for 2 sets of 300 megawatts and 2 sets of 25 megawatts was under construction. By 1999, the total installed capacity after production will be 1436 megawatts and the plant will become the largest power plant in the power grids of Shanxi. In order to cope with the requirements of the ever-growing power industry, No. 1 Power Plant has adopted a series of measures to streamline its working staff and lower production cost. In the first half year, the plant produced 2.39 billion kwh ahead of schedule and saved 1.92 yuan of cost per KWH.
