太原理工大学作为我国高等教育体制改革出现的“省部共建共管”的一种崭新模式,已引起中央领导的重视和全国高教界的普遍关注,而担任这所大学校长的谢克昌教授,因其在煤化学工程和化学反应工程两个科技领域中做出了系统的、创建性的成就和重要贡献,在国际国内煤化学化工领域有较大影响,成为我国该领域“不可多得的人才”。

Xie Kechang, President of Taiyuan University of Technology, is renowned for his systematic and creative contributions to coal chemistry and chemical reaction engineering. He is a member of the evaluation group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and a state- level expert with outstanding achievements. He is concurrently the Director of the Institute for Coal Chemistry of the University, Director of the Laboratory for Coal Conversion of Shanxi, member of the academic committee of the state’s key laboratory for coal conversion of the Academy of Sciences of China and chief editor of the state - level journal "Coal Conversion". Ever since 1985, Professor Xie has carried out several important research projects, including five for state and six for province and three for international cooperation. Among those accomplished scientific research projects, five were awarded first prize for Provincial Sci entific & Technical Achievements. As a doctorate supervisor, he has instructed or is instructing 8 doctors and 24 postgraduates.
