DaZhai is a small m0untain village with thepopulation of over 500, which used to be a modelvillage of self- reliance & haed struggle in thedeyelopment of China’s mountainous agriculture.To respond to Mao Zedong’s call, the 10 -year campaign of "Agriculture tearn from DaZhai"was launched all 0ver China and in 1960s andl97Os a t0tal of 10 milli0n people both at homeand abroad went t0 DaZhai to have a look aroundand to study.DaZhai, used to be a mountainous villagewhose mainstay was only to produce grain, nowhas taken a way to develop agriculture, industryand commerce altogether, where not only village -run enterprises but also Sino - foreign j0int - ven-ture enterprises have been founded. The enter-prises in DaZhai recruit villagers not only fromDazhai but also from neighboring villages and evenother provinces. In addition to the development ofindustry & commerce, DaZhai’s people still focustheir efforts on their farmland & the production ofgrain and just make good use of their spare time tocultivate and manage well their farinland by meansof machinery facilities. The crops they plant aren0t singular high - yield or just for their own con-sumption but also various and suitable for themarket.
