The Fenhe River Is to Become a Beautiful Landscape in Taiyuan

THE FENHE River, a largest river in Taiyuan, flows through Taiyuan from north to south with the total length of 188 km in the Taiyuan section and its drainage area accounts for 91% of the total area of Taiyuan.The higher riverhed and the serious deposit of sludge in Taiyuan section of the Fenhe River have been caused by the long - time soil erosion on the upper reaches. Taiyuan CCP Committee and Government have plit the control of the Fenhe River into a major agenda and set up four key projects, namely, the water-&-soilconservation project in the 112 - km drainage from Xinzhuang to Shanglan Village; the 76 - km waterways - dredging project from Shanglan Village to Hanwu;the water-depositing - & - beautifying project in the 6 - km urban section; the project of environment protection, highway building & afforestation.The 76 - km project of harnessing the middle reaches of the Fenhe River in Taiyuan section will he eompleted hy October 1, 2000 when the Fenhe River will again be able to flow with clean water & big waves and green grass & beautiful flowers grow along its banks, and become another beautiful landscape in Taiyuan.
