摘要
In China, from villages to cities, from areas on either side of the Yangtze River and places both inside and outside the Great Wall, there is virtually no escaping the omnipresent view of Guandi Temple, a shrine honoring Guan Yu, who is also extolled as "God of War". Yet none is more sanctioned or better known than the Guandi Temple built in Xiezhou, where Guan Yu was born. With a history of 1,400 years under its belt, this temple complex has a staggering 18,000 square meters, split into northern and southern sections. The huge architectural complex encloses gardens, pavilions, kiosks, memorial gates and arches, rockeries, among others-all surrounded by dense forests of peach trees.
