摘要 The massive, winding Great Wall is a wonder of the world that wa s constructed-literally--with the flesh, blood and sweat of the Chinese nation. There are many ruins of the ancient Great Wall that can still be found in Shanxi . Starting from the eastern bank of the Yellow River to the northwest of Xingxia n County, along the ridges of the Guancen and Hengshan Mountains, and receding i nto distant Hebei, the meandering old Great Wall and its tall beacon towers, not withstanding the vicissitudes of history and thousands of years of wear and tear , are still standing erect on this vast land, reminding people of its long-gone past. As a relic of war, the Great Wall, alongside its numerous passes, has beco me an important piece of Shanxi’s cultural heritage and a valuable object of war culture in the history of Chinese nation.
