近代意义的"国族"概念始于孙中山的创造,体现了孙中山本人的政治主张、政治立场,承载着民族建国的政治理想,是一个政治性很强的词汇。由于政治时局的变化,"国族"在两岸的发展传承情况并不相同,始终未进入内地的官方话语体系。国内学术界一些学者重拾"国族"概念有其时代背景,但"国族"概念的性质决定了其不能完全排除政治性,"国族"概念合理性需要重新审视,其使用范围具有限定性,不宜广泛推广普及。
