Anthropological Fragments of Architecture and Design On the Renovation Design of the Chen Residence

文章不仅记录了业主与建筑师针对蒲园陈宅改造项目的一次对话——面对同一项目时的不同身份决定了两人思考与立场的差异,甚至冲突;也是一位人类学者与一位建筑学者的对话——两人将该项目作为介质,讨论了建筑、建筑师、设计等话题在不同历史社会进程中所体现出的多样性。

This article documents a conversation between the client and architect on the subject of an renovation project took place in 2017 in the Pu- yuan Residence locates on Changle Road. in Shanghai. Different perspectives and positions determined by the respective roles - client and designer - result in conflicting ideas and thinking that point to issues inherent in one architectural project. Meanwhile, the conversation is also between an anthropologist and an architect. Starting with the discussion of a specific object - the project itself - being a preposition, the conversation shifts to more general realm, about the architecture, architect, design, and their multiplicity in different time and society.
