On Political Situation of the Period from Jingping to Yuanjia in Liu Song Dynasty

徐羡之等废弑少帝,绝非"废昏立明",乃是权力之争。事后,格于宗室广树、朝臣不附的形势,徐羡之等明知于己不利,也只能迎立义隆,这本质上是皇权的胜利。文帝诛徐羡之等,亦非为"雪仇耻",乃因诸人威胁他的权位。斗争主线是皇权和权臣的矛盾,因皇权得多数群体支持,故而获胜。从刘宋反对门阀政治、重振皇权角度可对景平至元嘉初政局做出有效阐释。

The event that Xu Xianzhi and his allies dis-crowned and killed the little emperor is by no means"dis-crowning a fatuous emperor and crowning a wise emperor",but a power struggle. Afterwards,due to the situation of the large imperial clan and minsters' disagreement,Xu Xianzhi and his allies had to crown Yilong as emperor although they knew it did no good to them,which can be regarded as the victory of imperial power in essence. Emperor Wen killed Xu xianzhi and his allies for their threat against his imperial throne instead of taking revenge. The struggle originates from the contradiction between the emperor and powerful ministers and the victory of the emperor can be attributed to gaining support from the majority. The political situation of the period from Jingping to Yuanjia can be interpreted from the perspective of objecting to aristocratic politics and revitalizing imperial power in Liu Song dynasty.
