With the development of voluntary accountability in American higher education, the Excellence In Assessment （EIA） becomes the first national initiative to recognize exemplary colleges and universities that successfully conduct and integrate student learning outcomes assessment under the framework of higher education associations. It reflects the design ideas such as focusing on the campus-level assessment of student learning outcomes, turning to recognition of assessment process and emphasizing the substantive effect of using assessment results to promote internal improvement, demonstrating the main line of ＂organized diversity＂. EIA has obtained preliminary achievements through its initial run, and represents the reform trend of voluntary accountability and the paradigm shift of student learning assessment. It has important enlightenment significance and reference value for our country＇s higher education development.
