The Role of Arguments in Philosophy

论证在哲学研究中的重要作用,首先是将分散的东西编织为一个整体,这是哲学和科学的共通之处。论证的质量是区分好、坏哲学的关键所在。在哲学研究工作中,要秉承一个开放的哲学观,拒绝标签投递,尊重论证形式的多样性。优秀的哲学工作应该遵循三个基本原则：给予正当的信誉;熟悉与你的工作相关的哲学以外的领域;注意别人做过的工作,特别是当这项工作揭示了你没有考虑过的困难的时候。

Arguments play an important role in philosophy. It is ＂ weaving together of what was dispersed＂ which is the core of arguments and shared by philosophy and the sciences. The quality of arguments is what distinguishes good philosophy from the bad one. In philosophical research, we should hold a wide con- ception of philosophy, abstain from label-throwing, and respect the diversity of the forms of argument. From three examples, we can see that good philosophical work should follow three basic principles, i.e. give proper credit, familiarize yourself with fields outside philosophy that are pertinent to the problems you work on, and pay attention to the work that has been done by others, especially when this work points to difficulties that you have not considered.
