摘要
艾米丽·卡尔是加拿大现代著名的艺术家,她的艺术创作深受原住民文化的影响。她笔下的图腾柱作品能够体现出独特的原住民风情。尽管卡尔晚年的作品转向加拿大西北海岸自然风光的描绘,但是她仍然没有摒弃原住民主题。相反,她将自然与图腾柱融为一体,跳出了对原住民文化保守式再现的局囿,从而使得自己的艺术造诣达到巅峰。从物质描绘到诗意表达这一转变是她的心态与原住民文化生态的互动关系的象征,烘托了卡尔独立灵魂的存在,揭示了她的作品与原住民文化的密切关联。
Emily Carr is a famous Canadian modern artist.Her artistic creation was deeply influenced by the first nation culture.Her works on totem poles reflected the unique style of the first nation’s customs.Although her later works converted to the landscape in Canadian Northwest Coast,she did not give up the theme of the first nation.Conversely,she had in-depth understanding of the first nation’s culture and combined nature with totem poles.She successfully got out of the style of conservative representation of the first nation culture.And her artistic achievements approached the peak.the process of switching from material culture to poetical expression is the symbol of the interaction between her mentality and the first nation’s cultural ecology,which illuminates the existence of Carr’s independent soul.thus the close relationship between her works and the first nation’s culture is brought to the light.
