A Study of the Maijishan Grottoes Cave Seventy-eight

麦积山石窟第78窟位于麦积山西崖东侧崖壁,是麦积山石窟开窟年代最早的洞窟之一。将第78窟造像与北魏和平二年造像碑对比,可知其造像粉本应是来自长安地区,造像时代应在和平二年之后。第78窟造像题材为三世佛造像,反映了当时流行的三世思想与法华思想。第78窟模仿昙曜五窟而建,其造像时间与仇池杨元和投奔北魏的时间十分接近,联系本段时间历史,第78窟的营建有可能与杨元和投奔北魏事件有关。

The Maijishan grottoes Seventy-eighth is located in the east of Shanxi Maiji cliffs, caves Maijishan Grottoes is one of the earliest cave. Comparing the Seventy-eighth cave statues with the Northern Wei Dynasty peace two year statue monument, we can see that the statue powder should come from Changan area, and the statue age should be two years after peace. The Seventy-eighth grotto statues theme reflects the thought of vertical Ⅲ Buddha statues in China, Seventy-eighth cave imitation tanyao five caves and built, and the statues of time and Chou Chi Yang Yuan and to the time very close contact this period of history, can be inferred from the Seventy-eighth cave construction and Yang Yuan to the event and have a close relationship.
