家训通常是由家族中学养和威信较高者总结经验、汲取主流价值观念从而为其族人制定的行为准则,是中国传统文化的精髓和特质。中国古代家训通过无数的家庭、家族、宗族,乃至整个社会传播与教化子弟,对中国人优良品格的形成起了积极作用,值得发扬光大。忠孝仁义与立身报国、诗礼立身与诗书传家、勤俭持家与廉洁奉公、谦虚礼让与积善修德、志向高远与诚信治国等几个方面,比较充分地体现了古代家训对古人优良品格的形成和塑造所起的具体作用,也为今天社会教育、人格培养等相关问题提供借鉴。

Family instruction is the essence and hallmark of Chinese traditional culture,provided the learned and prestigious members of the family by summing up their experience and distilling essential values. It is the standard of behaviors for all family members. From millions of families and even the whole country,family instruction spread and educated children. It played a positive role in forming the Chinese character which was then carried forward. The following virtues reflected the basic role of family instruction in ancient times on the formation of the Chinese character,such as loyalty,kindheartedness,service for the country,personal cultivation through poetry,ability to pass on poemsto posterity,frugality in household management and honesty in performing one＇s official duties,modesty and accumulation of merits to cultivate morality,ambition,integrity in state governance,and so on. It also provides reference for today＇s education,personality culture and other related matters.
