Character Relation Change in Far from the Madding Crowd Viewd from the Angle of Interpersonal Function

从系统功能语言学的人际功能的角度出发,分别对男女主人公在故事发展过程中的称呼的变化,不同情态副词的使用和对双方评价性的词汇的变化,分析小说《远离尘嚣》中男女主人公的人物关系的变化过程,从而为读者正确解读该小说提供了客观依据,同时也说明运用系统功能语言学理论来解读文学作品的可行性和可操作性。

This paper analyses the character relation change in Far from the Madding Crowd from the perspective of interpersonal function. The changes in address terms, modal adverbs and evaluative words in the dialogues between the characters are very important to reveal the changing process of their relations, and provide an objective basis for the readers to understand the chapter. The paper also proves that it is feasible to interpret literary works from the perspectives of the Systemic Functional Linguistics.
