Duan Lipei,a famous educator and a principal of Shanghai Yucai Middle School,summarized his thoughts on education after years of study on elementary education and reform in＂sixteen-character teaching experience＂,＂eight-character teaching method＂and ＂principles of self-management,self-innovation and voluntary exercise＂,which have been sending a reverberation in educational world in China.He also attaches importance to the teachers＇ education and training,advocating that teaching is to impart knowledge and educate students as well＂,＂teachers are supposed to be trained through teaching＂and＂school leaders must teach on the platform＂and teachers must be highly qualified,all of which are valuable to the present study on teachers＇ education and training.In reality,Duan Lipei＇s thought on teachers＇ education is rooted in the exploratory practice of running an elementary school with Chinese characteristics by Chinese intellectuals.
