Monetary economy is the weapon of Simmel to critique modern cities.Currency,as a medium,has exerted big impacts on modern individuals and cultures.It is also the basis of Simmel＇s monetary criticism and an important part of modern criticisms of cities.Simmel criticized the negative effects of currency on individual spiritual life fragmentarily,which was studied and followed by the Frankfurt School,including Benjamin,Lefebvre,Kracauer and so on.
