抗战时期,由于芷江机场的修建,芷江成了日军对西南大后方进行狂轰滥炸的重要目标之一,《申报》等主流媒体对此进行了较为全面客观的报道。日军对芷江的轰炸是无差别轰炸,轰炸的规模、频率与中国抗战及世界反法西斯战争的进程密切相关。日军的轰炸给芷江造成了巨大的人员伤亡和财产损失,使芷江这座历史文化名城的文物遗迹遭受重大破坏,同时也使芷江在抗击日寇、捍卫和平中的重要地位日益彰显。

During the war of Resistance Against Japan,due to the construction of the Zhijiang airport,Zhijiang became one ofthe important objectives of the Japanese bombing of southwest area,Shanghai Post and other mainstream media produced morecomprehensive and objective reports. The Japanese bombing of Zhijiang is an undifferentiated bombing,and the scale and frequencyof the bombing were closely related to the process of China＇s Anti Japanese War and the world＇s anti fascist war. Japanese bombingcaused huge casualties and property loss to Zhijiang. The historic and cultural city of Zhijiang city＇s cultural relics suffered significantdamage. At the same time,Zhijiang also became more and more important in the fight against the Japanese invaders and defendingthe important position in peace.
