The Phenomenon of Preserving Ancient Pronunciation Based on the Initial Consonant [η ]in Pingtang Dialect

汉语声母是构成汉语语音音节的要素之一,软颚鼻音[η],在现代汉语普通话中仅出现于音末,而在平塘方言中却作为声母出现,这是平塘方言在读音上的存古现象,从中可观察到古疑母字的演化过程。

Initial consonant is an important element of constructing syllable in Chinese. The velar nasal[η]is usually appearing in the end of the syllable of the mandarin,however,in the Pingtang dialect,it occurs as the initial consonant,which demonstrates the phenomenon of preserving ancient pronunciation. According to this phenomenon,the evolution of words that initial consonant is pronounced as Yi can be found.
