摘要
英国高等教育学者罗纳德·巴内特认为,对于大学之未来可能性的思考不应局限于经验层面,而应当上升到思辨哲学的高度。通过对最早的大学形态亦即形而上的大学的回顾,巴内特重新发现了大学的形而上的神秘性以及建立在这种神秘性之上的无限可能性。试图恢复这种为现代性进程所遮蔽的可能性并不能依靠重建陈旧的形而上的大学,而应当在保留大学的形而上本性的基础上提出崭新的有关未来大学的构想。
Ronald Barnett, British Scholar of Higher Education, argues that the thinking about the possibilities of future universities ought not to be confined within the bounds of empirical facts, but to draw on philosophical reflections. In retrospection of the metaphysical university, the earliest form of university, Barnett rediscovers the metaphysical mystery of university and the infinite possibilities thereupon. The reasonable approach to restore the possibilities that were shadowed by modernity is not re-establishing the outdated metaphysical university, but imagining innovatively future universities while retaining the metaphysical nature of university.
