再论林纾谒陵

On Lin Shu's visits to Emperor Guangxu's Mausoleum

After the Qing dynasty collapsed, Lin Shu had paid deep homage at the Chong Mausoleum for eleven times. This sparked off a major dispute. More than just a nostalgia for the Qing Dynasty, Lin Shu＇ s visits had deeper motivations, including： 1. yearning for the pioneers of the Hundred Days of Reform, who took on the responsibility of the whole nation; 2. retreat in despair when at the end of his resources, coupled with anxiety about the political reality; 3. dedication to preserve his integrity and remind common people to pay attention to social morality.
