Changes of Wildlife and Environment in Hexi Area in History

野生动物资源的丰富性与多样性,是判断一个地区自然生态环境好坏的重要标准。地处西北内陆、呈复杂地带性绿洲景观的河西,野生动物资源呈现丰富多样而又脆弱的特点,从史前至唐宋相当长的历史时期基本上保持了一种相对稳定的生态。明清以来,河西生态环境发生了较大变化,部分具有生态标志性动物已到了濒临灭绝的境地。野生动物资源的逐渐枯竭,反映了河西生态环境的变迁过程。

Whether there are rich and diversified wildlife resources is an important criterion to judge the natural ecological environment in a region. In Hexi area, which is located in the northwest of China and features a complicated oasis landscape, the wildlife resources, abundant but fragile, had been stable for a fairly long time from the prehistoric period to the Tang and Song Dynasties. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, great changes have taken place in the ecological environment, and some ecologically marked animals have become endangered species. The gradual depletion of wildlife resources reflects the changing process of ecological environment in Hexi Area.
