The global climate change has become an issue that interests both natural science and humanities.Global warming, glacial ablation, extreme weather, and air pollution are now significant problems threatening human survival. The role literature plays in understanding and dealing with the ongoing climate crisis is becoming the focus of literary critics. The climate writing research which sprang up in the early 21 st century is the response to the current issue of worsening climate change. The climate writing research examines the material meaning of the climate, the interwoven relationship between varied climatic phenomena and human culture, and the reflection on the anthropogenic climate change. To explore the emergence of the climate writing research and systematically analyze its research status can help us better understand the climate writings in literature and provide valuable reference to the solution to our current climate crisis.
