A Day of a River Chief

今年5月初,合川大石街道河长名单公布。街道党工委副书记、行政主任夏剑锋的名字后边,多了个＂方溪河大石街道河长＂的头衔。位于大石街道的方溪河支流,全长27公里,流经街道所辖的9个村2个社区。支流沿岸是密集的群众聚集区,饮用灌溉用水都来自这里,生活和养殖给这一支流带来了较重的污染。作为方溪河大石街道河长,用数据说话的＂硬一杯＂成了悬在他头上的＂红线＂。

Early in May, a list of river chiefs was released at Dashi Street, in Hechuan district. Xia Jian feng, the deputy secretary of the street party committee and executive director, is on that list with a new title “River Chief of Fangxi River at Dashi Street“. The 27 kilometers long river is the tributary of Yangtze River, and cov-ers nine villages and two communities within the jurisdiction of Dashi Street. A number of people live along the riverbanks, and both the livings and agriculture rely on the river, which in case has led to heavy pollution. Assigned as the river chief, Xia has been granted a red line right over his head; his work can only be judged by data of the water quality.
