Selective elite education is a brand-new education concept based on the organic combination of mass education and elite education. It has the advantages and characteristics of fairness,individuality and quality,and it is the highly coagulation of elite education based on mass education. The implementation of selective elite education is not only conducive to the connotative development of Chinese higher education,the precise positioning of labor division and cooperation at different levels of the university,but also beneficial to the development of students’ personality and comprehensive talent. It is a feasible path for improving the quality of education and cultivating excellent talents by transforming educational concepts,integrating educational resources,trying to implement selective elite education in research-based and research-oriented universities,and developing excellent students preferentially.
