摘要
果树品种名称的正确翻译是提高该领域专业文献翻译质量的关键。目前,果树品种名称英译问题突出。文章在揭示当前果树品种名称英译存在问题的基础上,提出了果树品种名称英译应达到的目的,并对果树品种名称英译方法进行了探讨,认为果树品种繁多,命名者取义不同、命名方式多样,要按不同类型分别采用不同的翻译方法,并应用多种翻译方式相结合,尽可能译出能充分体现命名者初衷的译名。
To translate the names of fruit cultivars properly is the key to improve the translation quality in this field. Nowadays the problems in English translation of fruit cultivars have been a prominent issue. Based on the analysis of the problems in English translation of fruit cultivars, this paper proposes the objects to be achieved in translation and discusses various methods to apply. Owing to the large number of fruit cultivars, the namers＇ choices of meanings, and the variety in naming patterns, this paper suggests that different translation methods should be adopted or combined according to different naming types, thus to translate as best as possible to fully reflect the original names.
