在修筑长城上秦始皇有历史责任。李世民、玄烨不修筑长城的观点是片面的。所谓的"万里长城万里空"的阐述是有偏差的。《穀梁传》和穀梁学者对于孟姜女哭倒长城传说的形成具有决定性的作用和影响。历史证明否定人民的作用,失去民心的"长城"并不牢靠。否定人民的作用,长城是会崩塌的。
