人性追寻的对立与互补——美国文学人文主题解读

The Opposite and Complementarity of Human Nature Pursuit——Interpreting the Humanistic Theme of American Literature

美国文学自始至终贯穿着一条人文红线,即人性追寻主题。从《红字》《哈克贝利·费恩历险记》《老人与海》三部不同时代的代表作品剖析人性追寻这一人文主题的具体体现——理性与原欲、信仰的对立与互补。对立与互补在这三部作品中分别体现为:原欲与理性的角逐,人道、道德与宗教三者合而为一,理性与信仰的对立统一。通过对三部作品人文主题的深层剖析,从而揭露美国文学人文关怀的根本特征。

There is always a red line of humanity running throughout the American literature, that is the theme of seeking humanity. This paper analyzes the embodiment of humanistic theme of pursuing human nature： reason and desire, the opposite and complementary of faith from three representative works in different eras Scarlet Letter, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Old Man And the Sea. In these three works, opposition and complementarity are manifested as the following： the rivalry of desire and ration, the unity of humanity, morality and religion, and the unity of opposites between reason and faith. Through the deep analysis of the humanistic theme of the three works, this paper reveals the fundamental characteristics of the humanistic care of American literature.
