The historical and cultural block is the ＂living fossil＂ of mankind＇s civilization, an organic component of urban landscape, and also an important space carrier of historical remains and traditional life. In this paper, by taking the landscape composition of historical and cultural blocks as the research object, through a large number of field researches and literature summaries, it concludes the dominant material element and hidden material element that constitute the historical and cultural landscapes from the macro view, intermediate perspective and the micro view. It is aimed to let readers have a deeper understanding of the landscape composition of historical and cultural blocks, thus providing a clearer idea for the protection and regeneration of historical and cultural block landscapes.
