On Decorative Patterns of the Polo Bronze Mirror of the Tang Dynasty

This paper analyzes these decorative patterns of the Polo bronze mirrors of the Tang Dynasty based on the Chinese painting history and under the social background of the Tang Dynasty. From the perspective of the art design discipline, the writer aims at revealing the meaning of these decorative patterns of the Polo bronze mirror, with regard to its visual elements, composition and artistic characteristics. Decorative patterns of the Polo bronze mirror are the combining product of mirror making technology and outside culture, which have the strong sense with the times and an abundant of auspicious metaphor and meaning and represent the style and the special spirits of Tang Dynasty. The innovative idea of these decorative patterns provides a brand-new inspiration for contemporary designers.
