晚清和民国时期的北京民谣英译

A Study of the English Translation of Beijing Folklore Rhymes in Late Qing and the Republican Period

晚清和民国时期,先后有四种近世北京民谣英译作品在中国和美国出版。四个译本风格各异,比较生动地反映了北京地区普通民众的生活方式和精神面貌。威达利等四位译者搜集和翻译北京民谣作品的努力尚未得到学界足够的关注,但其译作理应在中国文学外译史上占据一席之地。

During 40 years in late Qing Dynasty and the Republican period,four English versions of Beijing folklore rhymes were published in China and America,each presenting a different picture of the life of the ordinary Chinese people. So far,the efforts of Baron Guido Vitale and the other three translators in collecting and translating Beijing folklore rhymes have not received due recognition,but their works deserve a place in the history of English translation of Chinese literature.
