Rise and Decline of British School Football in the 19th Century and Its Enlightenment

运用文献资料和专家访谈等方法,对19世纪英国校园足球兴衰进行研究。结果表明:英国公学足球代表着英国早期足球的发展,校园足球成为培养具有"古典教育价值观"现代人的重要手段。通过足球,学生逐渐形成勇敢、公正、忠诚等人文精神。同时,公学学生以足球作为手段履行社会责任,帮助底层人民提高身体和生活水平。但是,足球职业化和商业化发展让校园足球逐渐失去主流地位,其所推崇的足球教育理念和功能也被世俗化商业足球价值取向所代替。对于我国校园足球而言,探究英国早期校园足球的古典教育价值观和教育理念具有现实意义,有利于实现价值观教育和实用性教育二者之间的平衡。

By using the methods of literature review, expert interview and so on, this paper studied the rise and decline of British school football in the 19th century. The result showed public school football represented the early development of British football and school football became the means of cultivating neoteric with classical education value. Through football, student formed bravery, integrity, loyalty and other humanistic spirits. Meanwhile, public school students carried out social responsibility and helped poor people by means of football. However, professional and commercial football gradually dominated the development trend of football and mundane value orientation took the place of the educational ideology and function initiated by school football. Analysis on classic educational value and idea of British school football had realistic suggestion on Chinese school football, which is benefcial to realize the balance between value education and utility education.
