In the＂Internet ＋＂era, information retrieval courses have been hailed as the key to unlocking a knowledgebase. This paper introduces the main content of the ARCS motivation model, elaborates the significance of using theARCS motivation model in the information retrieval teaching, and from the use of the＂attention＂strategy to improvethe enthusiasm of students to learn, the use of＂relevance＂strategy to make teaching contact with reality,＂confidence＂strategy to maintain students＇ motivation to learn, and to improve the teaching effect by using＂satisfaction＂strategy.The four aspects of the ARCS motivation model in the application of information retrieval teaching strategy.
