Objective To explore the clinical effects of combined Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis. Methods A total of 86 patients with recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis were divided into two groups. Group A was treated with traditional Chinese medicine lavage combined with vaginal suppository Clotrimazole Tablets and group B with the latter only. The clinical effects and recurrence rate between the two groups were compared. Results After the treatment, the TCM syndrome scores, local sign scores and vaginal discharge examination scores in the two groups were significantly lower than those before the treatment(P < 0.05), and the scores in group A were significantly lower than those in group B(P < 0.05); the pruritus vulvae disappearance time, vaginal itching disappearance time, vaginal discharge clearance time and leucorrhea restoration time were significantly shorter than those in group B(P < 0.05); the overall response rate(ORR) in group A was 95.3%, which was significantly higher than the 81.4% in group B(P < 0.05). Four weeks after drug withdrawal, the recurrence rate in group A was 7.3%, which was significantly lower than the 37.1% in group B(P < 0.05). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine lavage combined with vaginal suppository Clotrimazole Tablets can significantly improve the clinical effects in the treatment of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis, accelerate recovery and reduce recurrence.
