The Spreading of Lu Xun in English Newspapers and Periodicals

在鲁迅文学作品及思想向外传播的过程中,20世纪上半叶国内外出版的现代英文报刊发挥了重要媒介作用。它们以刊载图书广告、文学译文、纪念文字及评论文章等形式,建立起多元立体的文化镜像,推动鲁迅文学及其思想向外传播。在这些传播文献里,中外译介者显示出不同的传播视角与文化立场:外国知识分子通过译介鲁迅及其作品来认知中国现代历史进程及新文学特性,而中国知识分子则在译介时彰显鲁迅及其作品所体现出来的世界性思想和现代艺术内涵。研究现代英文报刊在鲁迅传播中所起的独特作用,有助于进一步丰富并拓展鲁迅研究的空间与视阈。

During the first half of the 20th century, many English newspapers and periodicals, both at home andabroad, published lots of literature translations, book commercials and reviews and articles about Lu Xun and his works,which establisheda multiple and stereo cultural mirror and contributed to the spreading of Lu Xun＇s literature andthoughts. Different translators and reviewers had their own cultural positions and showed different communication perspectives. Foreign scholars tried to understand modern Chinese history and cultural characteristics through the literary works ofLu Xun. However, Chinese scholars tried to explore modern thoughts and artistic innovation existing in Lu Xun＇s literature and thoughts. This article focuses on the unique function of modern English newspapers and periodicals in thespreading of Lu Xun爷s works, which will help to enrich and expand the spatial threshold of Lu Xun research.
