Dove published in 1982 makes a positivc and right rcsponsc to thc hedonism popular at thattime in Australia. Although it adopts omniscient narrative pattern and now and thefrom character＇s focalization to achieve some rhetorical effect, narrative voice is very clear all the waythrough. The voice praises labor and laborers, extols the fearlessness of dangers and hardships, vitalityand progress of Australians. Simultaneously, Dove uses a pause paragraph to describe the Wattle Day,which has a strong sense of regional and national consciousness and from character＇s activities on Anzac Day of great significance on and closely related to the national congreat help to the salvation of crisis consciousness of Australia at that time.
