Absorb a Great Variety of Art, Graft One Twig on Another: My Academic Career and Learning Experience

金学智先生以少年时代的苦难作为起点,励志、发愤,即便遭遇曲折颠簸亦求索不息。他青少年时期开始的对艺术的热爱与实践,既是困顿境遇里的自娱自慰,更奠定了日后科研创作的基础。从大学求学到"文革"前的初试期、"文革"时的沉寂期,再到改革开放至今四十年的不倦创作期,金学智先生的学术生涯迄今已持续六十年。他的学术生涯可以总结为探索美学理论联系艺术实际之路;自下而上地研究美学之路;长、短并举,深化与普及双轨齐进之路;古今中外融通以凸显民族文化,创造中国特色艺术美学之路。他的治学得益于读书、用书、学哲学的体悟,充分体现了学科交叉的开拓性、优越性和超越性。

Mr. Jin Xuezhi pursued his learning when he was young and poor. He never gave up learning even if he suffered from twists and turns. His love and practice of art during his youth were a kind of self-amusement in a diffcult situation, and also laid the foundation for his future scientifc research. From the frst trial period （from Jin’s admission to university till the time before the “Cultural Revolution”）, to the quiet period （“Cultural Revolution”）, and to the forty-year writing period （from the beginning of the reform and opening to the present）, Mr. Jin Xuezhi’s academic career has lasted for sixty years. His academic career can be summed up as the way to explore the theory of aesthetics with the practice of art, to study the history of aesthetics in a bottom-up way; to deepen and popularize the theory of aesthetics; and to highlight the national culture in the context of ancient and modern cultures as well as foreign and Chinese cultures. He created the way of artistic aesthetics with Chinese characteristics. His scholarly research benefts from reading, using books and learning philosophy, and fully embodies the uniqueness, superiority and transcendence of cross-disciplines.
