The Discussion on Women's Emancipation of the Birth Control Ideas in the 1920s

1920年代中国知识界受到新文化运动洗礼的同时,又因珊格尔夫人来华宣传生育节制的契机,生育节制观念开始在中国展开讨论。生育节制观念的支持者们不只介绍生育节制的基本内容,还将其与种族强盛、改革婚恋观和妇女解放等问题联系在一起展开广泛讨论。因为妇女与生育之间有着天然不可分割的关系,生育节制观念的一些具体言论蕴含了一定的妇女解放思想,即通过生育节制促进妇女身体解放,将生育权交给妇女,以及将妇女从无休止生育儿女中解脱出来,在走向社会中实现自身价值。

In the 1920 s, because of the New Cultrure Movement and the opportunity of Mrs. Sanger＇s visit to promote the birth control in China,the intellectual community of China started the discussion about the birth control ideas.The supporters not only introduced the basic content of the birth control,but also launched an extensive discussion related to the issues of racial prosperity,concept reform of love and marriage, women＇s emancipation concept together. Because of the natural indivisible relationship between women and fertility, some specific comments on the ideas of birth control embody the women＇s emancipation. By giving birth control, women were emancipated physically, and got the procreation right, as a result, women were free from endless childbearing and realized their value in society.
