In the novel Home,Toni Morrison has paid close attention to the idea of the home of African American and dealt with it through her humorous and witty writing as she had done in her earlier works. By dint of the African American humor,Morrison clarifies the problem of the home of African American in order to find out the causes of the problem and paves the way for solving it. The paper points out that the racism and the unfavorable economic position revealed by the African American humor in the novel are the reasons why African American lost their homes, and that the African American humor evokes the sense of belonging of African American and their aspiration for a homeland of African Americans and renders them the ability to distinguish the genuine home from the counterfeit one and the power to reconstruct their real homes. The theme of homeland in the novel stands out even more clearly through Morrison's writing of the African American humor.
