摘要
宣传"一带一路"倡议,讲好中国故事,都离不开"中国"二字。目前,我国向外推介的英语文献中,"中国"用作定语时谬误时有发生。该研究阐述了搭配的重要性和语料库用于翻译研究的意义,并利用COCA美国当代英语语料库对Chinese,China’s,China和of China做定语的情况进行了统计分析。基于此并参考其他资料,总结了其词性、词义、文体特征和搭配结构,探讨了它们之间的异同,提供了正确用法的范例,揭示了"中国(的)"做定语英译的规律。
In publicizing"The Belt and Road"initiative and telling China stories,we cannot go without the words"China","China's","Chinese"and"of China". When they are used as an attribute,mistakes sometimes occur in foreign publicity translations.This study may provide a solution to this problem. The importance of collocation and the significance of using corpora for translation studies are presented. The use of these words related to"China"as an attribute is calculated and analyzed by means of COCA(Corpus of Contemporary American English). Based on this and some other reference materials,their parts of speech,semantic meanings,stylistic features and collocations are summarized,their similarities and differences are clarified,some correct examples are listed and certain rules for translating"中国(的)"as an attribute are discussed.
