Further Investigation into the Theoretical Origins of Robert Kaplan's Contrastive Rhetoric

半个世纪以来,作为二语写作领域的重要理论,对比修辞学受到国内外学界的普遍关注,但在理论渊源的问题上一直存在争鸣,需要深入挖掘对比修辞学与萨比尔—沃夫假设、古典修辞学和对比分析之间的异同,剥离出该理论和前期研究之间复杂的思想关系。

As an important theory in the field of second language writing, contrastive rhetoric has attracted the attention of scholars for half a century. However, there have always been debates over its theoretical origins and the issue needs further and deeper discussions. The purpose of this paper is to explore the similarities and differences between contrastive rhetoric and Saber-wolf hypothesis, classical rhetoric and contrastive analysis, and reevaluate the relationship between Robert Kaplan＇s contrastive rhetoric system and predecessors＇ research.
