特朗普执政的第一年,中美关系总体上发展顺利,但双方并未就两国关系的定位和框架达成共识。随着特朗普政府内对华强硬派影响力的上升,中美关系在经济和安全领域正面临严峻挑战,两国关系的竞争性在强化和扩大,在此情况下,如何管理和引导竞争是双方共同面临的课题。从更广阔的视野看,美国对华政策正在进入新阶段,与中国的力与势之争是这个阶段美国对华政策的重点,维持对华力量优势将是未来20~30年美国对华政策的核心关切。这一重大变化对中国的对美政策提出了新的考验。

The first year of the Trump Presidency witnessed a general smooth development of China-US relations, despite the fact that both sides stood short of reaching a consensus on the definition and framework of the bilateral relationship. As the influence of the hawkish faction within the Trump administration rises, the China-US relations are confronted with severe challenges in economic and security fields, with the competition between the two countries intensifying and expanding. Under these circumstances, a common challenge confronting both sides is how to manage competition. Viewed from a broader perspective, the U.S. China policy has entered a new phase at which competition for power is the key, and preserving power superiority over China will be the core concern of U.S. China policy in the coming 20-30 years. Such a significant change poses a new challenge for China's U.S. policy.
