Phonetic and Linguistic Feature of New York English

从辅音系统、元音系统、语音规则及变化等三个方面论述纽约英语语音及语言特征,即辅音强弱受语境影响,发中心双元音语境具有广泛性,单母/元音变体呈现从无/?/音到有/?/音的转变,短-a系统具有复杂的发音规则及限制等。

This paper centers on three aspects： the consonant, the vowel system of NYE and the speech feature and change of NYE to discuss the phonetic and linguistic feature of NYE. Namely, the extent of strong or weak of the sound of consonant is subject to the phonetic environments where the consonants are in; the extensive phonetic context of centre diphthongs and their monophthongal variants in conditional environment; the shift from non-rhotic to rhotic speech; the complex constraints and rules of short-a system are presented.
