Since China and India established a strategic partnership in 2005, their bilateral economic and trade relations have seen rapid growth. Bilateral trade has increased at an annual speed of 40 percent, resulting in a record volume of $73.6 billion in 2011. However, the trade imbalance between the two countries has also increased over the years, reaching a record high of $53.2 billion in 2016.
