“批改网”对不同水平非英语专业学生英语写作水平的影响

Effects of www.pigai.org on the English Writing Quality of Non-English Majors with Different Levels

通过对89名不同英语水平的非英语专业学生英语写作调查发现,经过一段时间的批改网写作练习,较高水平学习者和一般水平学习者的英语写作成绩都显著提高。作文字数明显增加,高频词汇量显著减少,学术词汇量明显增加;在平均词长方面,一般水平学习者有所下降,较高水平学习者略有增加,但是,都没有形成显著性差异;在篇章连词的使用上,虽然两者都略有增加但未形成显著性差异;从句的使用上,一般水平学习者小幅度增加,而较高水平学习者略微减少;平均句长、最长句词数及最短句词数上,较高水平学习者都略有减少,而一般水平学习者在最长句词数上略微增加,在最短句词数及平均句长方面都稍有减少。可见,通过批改网进行写作练习,一般水平学习者进步更明显。在练习过程中,教师应该从连词、从句的使用及句法等薄弱环节上加强对学习者的指导。

An empirical study was made among 89 non-English majors with different English levels. The results show that after a period of writing practice on the www.pigai.org, both the higher proficiency and average proficiency learners’ writing scores were greatly improved. More vocabulary were used in the composition, and the use of high-frequency vocabulary significantly decreased while the use of academic vocabulary increased greatly. In terms of the average word length,learners with average proficiency decreased slightly, but the learners with higher proficiency increased a bit. It also promotes the learners’ use of conjunction slightly; learners with average proficiency make a small progress in the use of clauses, while learners with higher proficiency did not; learners with average proficiency make a little progress in the number of words in the longest sentence, the number of words in the shortest sentence and the average sentence length.Learners with higher proficiency did not make progress in all the three aspects. The results show that learners with average proficiency benefit more from on-line writing system. During the process the teachers should pay more attention to the learners’ weaknesses, such as, the use of conjunction, syntax and clause, etc.
